“One Won’t Do…”

LIVE ART BY MARTHALICIA
On Friday night, I was surrounded by a great and loving energy at the “One Won’t Do” party celebrating the life and legacy of musical mastermind, J.Dilla (1974-2006). After his death, his estate was wading in a sea of veritable red tape, making it difficult to care for the family he left behind and to uphold his legacy. Finally, it seems things have been sorted out and it was a joyous moment when, Ma Dukes stepped in the building and said a few words in regards to the New J.Dilla Foundation! [VIDEO]

There’s no doubt you’ve seen the commercial sun shiny young lady singing/rapping in a Dollar Van touting McDonald’s breakfast menu by now. What you may not know, is that she (Joya Bravo) and WordSpit (whose commercial hasn’t aired yet) are real people, real artists on the scene in NYC. And if you’re reading this from far away, Dollar Van Demos is a real independently produced music video machine supporting artists near and far. And we all know by sheer indoctrination, that McDonald’s is REAL.
So how did a huge company that has served over 99 BILLION find Dollar Van Demos? How did WordSpit & Joya Bravo find Dollar Van Demos? The answer lies in social networking. They all came to visit us at Rise Up Radio to talk about their beginnings and drop some insight on the makings of the McDonald’s Dollar Menu commercial.
