2009 Curtain Call…

My Little Tree
2009. Is it over yet? Am I still alive? I guess I am, which means I haven’t hit celebrity status yet. But that’s just as well, because I spent 2009 harvesting an anti-climactic celebrity death between 2017- 2049. So look out for that. LOL
Morbid sense of humor aside, I have to say personally this year has blessed me with growth, new friendships and the ability to weed out parts of my life that weren’t as important as I thought. Over and over this year, I was celebrating “firsts”. First bit of press (by FreeHipHopNow.com), first episode of my web show “Taste Of The Town“, first time hosting a large scale concert (Rock The Block BK), first time hosting “A Monthly Bondfire” (June 09, all ladies edition). Those firsts, couldn’t have happened without people that helped me grow, friends that kept it real and gently let me fall. I would be remiss if I didn’t show love to Architects + Demolition Men, The Real Live Show, DJ Juice E, Dorian Chandler, Swirl PR, Conscious, The Bondfire Fam, the HAYS Family, Ngozi Odita, Daru & Rena Jones, Liv L’raynge, my She’s So Fresh Family, my fellow TWEET-HEADS, my parents, WBAI-NY and Rise Up Radio (<–my love) and my on-air brothers: MC Kswift, Digo, and Divino. I can go on for days, but I don’t want to. It’s time for a NEW year, a NEW you, a NEW me, NO resolutions, just…ACTION.
Bonus vid: I take you on a brief Christmas light tour down Brooklyn Avenue.

This holiday season, I’m trying to strike out and do different things with friends and family and so far I’ve enjoyed every part of it. Here are some highlights and things coming up I’d like to share
‘A Monthly Bondfire’ 11.24.09
Every edition of Bondfire is more special than the last, this being no exception. We had cookies, corn muffins, our usual variety top tier open mic artists, we had special guests (Shay Meyer, Gif, Robert Gibbons, and Kalae Allday), AND our feature artists: GNU, and SleepWalkas. There was so much love and talent in the room it was like a warm holiday blanket. Photo by: Joann Gomez
Convent Baptist Church11.26.09
Volunteering is something people always talk about and often don’t follow through on. This year was my year to help. With recession hitting everyone hard, and even myself dining on 10 for 1.00 Ramen Noodles a few more times than is healthy, I decided to do something about it. So, Team Bondfire (Me and The Bronx Über Villain and my cousin Tanya) joined The Beautiful Stranger at Convent Baptist Church in Harlem and helped give out their holiday meals to families in need.

I do alot of shows and the female emcee movement is one that I personally stand behind. So, I was excited to be asked to host ‘She’s So Fresh II’ a showcase of raw estrogenilogical (is that a word?) energy and ferociousness by talented artists like: Eagle Nebula, Ra the MC, Misnomer(s), NeMiss, with DJ Chela holding it down all night on the 1′s and 2′s! The whole fiesta was put together by fellow emcee, Bless Roxwell and J.A.G Media and Music.
Check out the flier!

If you want a preview:
You can listen to all of us hijack CIRCA 95 RADIO this sunday from 2:30- 5pm with hosts, PattyDukes & Rephstar LIVE on www.circa95.com!
